The ‘Maternal & Early Years Healthy Weight Advisor’s Training Programme’ resource was developed by CELE in collaboration with the Childhood Obesity Project Board. As part of the NHS West Midlands (Strategic Health authority) strategic framework investing for health and the PCTs across West Midlands worked together on addressing the issues of childhood obesity. One of the key areas which was identified to work with pregnant women during pregnancy and in the early years of the child’s life in terms of their diet, exercise and breastfeeding. Hence The Teaching Public Health Network, Wolverhampton University and six pilot sites have come together to design this training programme to train healthy weight advisors.
This training resource has eight sessions. Each session gives information on a particular topic. Supplementary information is also made available for viewing or download.
